What People Are Saying About The Other Land

“It is a remarkable accomplishment. The nerdy part of me loves the historical detail (it is set in Medieval Ireland, Iceland, and... I don't want to give anything away), but my goodness, she has woven it into her book so skillfully that it is hard to tell which characters are fictional and which are real people and events from Icelandic sagas. The literary part of me loves the vividly imagined physical and social setting. Although the book uses shamanic trances and other phenomena that are outside present-day consensus reality to drive the plot, the overall tone is one of uncompromising realism. There is a lot more I could say -- I think this is going to be an impactful and much loved book. Basically the book is an alternate history -- what would have happened if the colonization of the Americas by Europe had been averted through what I call "technologies of Reunion"? For example shamanic practices and sacred plant medicine, that were during the period of the novel's setting being lost to the Christianization of Europe. Anyway, this book is gold. It will strike a chord in many as it has in me.”  – Charles Eisenstein, author of The More Beautiful World Our Hearts Know is Possible, Climate – A New Story, Sacred Economics, and other books

“A truly stunning saga, right up there with other big historical fictions like The Once & Future King or The Mists of Avalon. Like those big books, your novel has many characters, but the voice of your narrator, Una, is strong enough to provide a familiar thread that keeps us going from one adventure to the next. This is a real page-turner!' – Jennifer Browdy, author of What I Forgot and Why I Remembered, Writing Fire, The Elemental Journey of the Purposeful Memoir and other books.
